I’ve always loved anything beauty related and as a child would force makeovers on my friends and family. I began to fully understand and appreciate the skill of makeup artistry when I was involved in theatre in high school. I was lucky enough to have a wonderful teacher who taught me about stage makeup and I began designing makeup for theatre productions.
This love for makeup followed me to North Central College in Naperville, Illinois, where as a theatre major, stage makeup became my specialty and I ended up assisting in the stage makeup classes. Between my sophomore and junior years of college I went to nail school to earn a license in nail technology. I worked part time at a salon & day spa my last two years of college. I felt such a satisfaction in helping women feel more confident and enjoyed the relationships I built with my clients. I knew my future was in the beauty industry!
During this time I also began to do bridal and special occasion makeup for friends and family. After graduating college, I enrolled in an Esthetics program and after five months of full time training I became a licensed esthetician. I directed the Esthetics department at an upscale salon and day spa in the Chicago suburbs. I provided my clients not only with facials and waxing services, but also makeup application. I worked with many brides, bridal parties and women attending special events. I participated in a teen beauty camp, teaching teens how to take care of their skin and apply makeup. I enjoyed doing all Esthetic services, but makeup was my true passion.
In 2006 I moved from the Chicago area to Los Angeles to attend Westmore Academy of Cosmetic Arts, the premier makeup school in the Los Angeles area. There, I honed my skills in beauty makeup, and also received training in special effects makeup, airbrush makeup, and high fashion/ avant garde makeup.
Since graduating from Westmore, I have been a freelance makeup artist in the Los Angeles area, working with private clients, brides, publications, production companies, photographers, and event coordinators.
It has always been a dream of mine to create a line of professional quality makeup that is safe, affordable and creates amazing results. I made the decision to follow that dream and I am currently launching my own signature line of cosmetics, called Liz Marie Beauty, formulated to be paraben free and propylene glycol free. It is available for purchase on my website. Make sure to check back frequently for new products and specials!
